Cayuga Inlet gets the bulk of the wild rainbows that leave Cayuga Lake in the spring to spawn, resulting in what is truly excellent fishing. These rainbows average about 2 pounds, but fish up to 8 pounds are not uncommon. There is also a good run of rainbows here in the fall, beginning in mid-October and lasting to mid-December. In addition to the fall rainbow runs, landlocked salmon also run in this stream.
