The Susquehanna River is one of Broome County's best kept secrets, at least as far as fishing is
concerned. Although it flows through a very populous, urbanized region for much of its length, it
is generally underutilized, in spite of the fact that the fishing for walleyes and smallmouth bass is
downright excellent. Its slightly turbid waters flow over a bottom of rubble and gravel that is, for
the most part, lacking in deep holes. The surroundings range from abandoned farmland to the
urbanized area of Binghamton, Endicott and Johnson City.
